Standard Fee Schedule
Welcome to the Birth and Women's Health Center. It is our intention to provide you with a safe and loving haven for your prenatal care and birth. In an effort to give you the best possible experience and care, our staff is available to explain our financial policies and agreements, and to assist you in understanding your insurance benefits. However, please be aware that it is ultimately your responsibility to determine your coverage.
If you do not have insurance, or if it does not provide you with 100% coverage, please meet with our Office Manager to discuss payment plan options. If you do not have insurance, you may be eligible for Arizona's program for maternity care: Baby Arizona. We can provide you with referrals for application assistance. BWHC also has a Reduced Fee Program for a limited number of people who are uninsured and cannot afford care. Please see the front desk if you are interested.
Financial Agreement : Based on your insurance coverage, we will provide you with a written agreement describing your financial responsibilities. Payments are to be made monthly, with total payments due six weeks prior to your estimated due date. If you are unable to meet your payment schedule, please talk with someone at the front desk.
Insurance : Please provide us with a completed and signed patient registration form, along with your insurance card. We will bill your insurance company at the time of your baby's birth. Any fees not covered by your insurance company will be your responsibility. If your insurance coverage changes, please inform the front office immediately.
I. PRENATAL AND POSTPARTUM CARE
A. Midwifery Care Package -- All prenatal care and birth with a midwife: $2,400
• Prenatal visits and/or centering groups
• Midwife attendance at vaginal birth (does not include facility fee; see below)
• Childbirth Choices Class
• Postpartum midwife visits at TMC if needed
• Six-week postpartum visit with midwife without PAP or contraception
• Mom/Baby Group
• Collaboration with physicians
• 1 Non-Stress Test (NST) at the Birth Center
B. Clinical services that cost extra. You will receive a separate bill from the provider of these services (obstetrician, anesthesiologist, hospital, pediatrician):
• Additional NSTs at the Birth Center
• Sonograms
• NST with an Amniotic Fluid Index
• Additional labs needed on an individual basis
• Prenatal TMC Admission
• Transfer to Tucson Medical Center in labor
• Epidural
• Forceps, Vacuum, or C-section delivery by a physician
• MD care beyond consultation
• Pap smear
• Rhogam
** If you transfer to TMC during labor and require physician assistance, BWHC will give you a partial refund of your prepaid facility payment. You will be billed directly by TMC or Associates in Women's Health Care for physician and hospital services.
C. Education fees
• BWHC charges a $75 fee for educational materials and snacks associated with centering classes, the childbirth education series, and any other educational programs you wish to attend during your care.
• If you have had a baby at the Birth Center in the past, the fee is reduced to $25.
• If you elect to attend childbirth education elsewhere, the fee is waived.
• All education fees must be paid at the 28-week visit.
II. FACILITY FEES AT THE BIRTH CENTER
A. For Birth: $2,450
• Labor attendance and birth
• Hydrotherapy (Use of Birth Tub)
• Medications
• Postpartum care
• Newborn care and lab work for blood typing
• Optional Doula "Tuck-In" Service
• 1-2 Postpartum visits with an RN
B. For Labor Evaluation: $150
C. Partial Care at Birth Center with mid-labor transfer to TMC: $500
DISCOUNTS AND PAYMENT PLANS

No discounts can be applied for patients who are covered by any insurance plan . ****
• BWHC offers a 35% discount if fees are paid in full within 30 days of the first prenatal visit. If you are a late transfer patient, fees must be paid in full by 34 weeks of pregnancy. Total Midwifery Care under this payment plan: $1,560. Total Facility Fee under this payment plan: $1,592.50
• BWHC offers a 20% discount if fees are paid in full by 34 weeks of pregnancy. Total Midwifery Care under this payment plan: $1,920. Total Facility Fee under this payment plan: $1,960.
• If you transfer care from another provider before 32 weeks gestation, full BWHC fees still apply. If you transfer care from another provider after 32 weeks gestation, you will receive a 15% discount on our prenatal/midwifery care fees (section I, part A).
